Say what something is
책이에요 · 학교예요
Read & notice
For this polite noun-ending pattern, use 이에요 after a final consonant and 예요 after a vowel. 책 ends in ㄱ, so 책이에요 means “It is a book”. 학교 ends in a vowel, so 학교예요 means “It is a school”.
Choose by the final sound of the noun, not its meaning. Do not attach this noun pattern mechanically to every verb. The negative expression 아니에요 is learned as its own form.
